Cross Hole Sonic Logging Test

A sonic logger such as the Cross-Hole Analyzer is used to assess concrete quality and consistency in cast-in-situ piles. Crosshole Sonic Logging provides information on:

  • Honeycombing due to inadequate vibration
  • Segregation due to over vibration and improper concrete placement methods
  • Washout of cement due to groundwater flow
  • Cracks in pile shaft due to shrinkage
  • Inclusion of foreign material causing contamination of concrete
  • Necking of pile due to collapse of side walls during withdrawal of temporary casings

Access tubes (normally 4 numbers) are installed prior to testing. There is no limit to the depth where the pile profile is logged. Results are displayed on the screen real time.

BENEFITS:

  • Used effectively on bored piles
  • Economical
  • Conforms to ASTM D6760
